Basil and tomatoes are meant to be together in my opinion like peanut butter and jelly. Today’s post is short but big on flavor as I’m sharing a quick recipe for making tomato basil sauce.

And this can be used in a number of ways: on pizza, over pasta or to top chicken. You can also make enough to can if you want.
Quick Tomato Basil Sauce
Course: Ordinary Recipes Made GourmetThis makes enough sauce for 1 pound of pasta.
Ingredients
1/2 c. olive oil
1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil
4 to 12 cloves fresh garlic, minced
30 to 40 fresh basil leaves, torn into small pieces
1 (28 oz. or 35 oz.) can of imported plum tomatoes or 8 to 10 fresh plum tomatoes, chopped
Directions
- In large sauté pan, heat oils and sauté garlic for 2 minutes.
- Add the basil leaves and sauté another 2 minutes.
- Add chopped plum tomatoes, a little salt and pepper and simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
