Hi my friends! I hope your 2019 is getting off to a good start. I decided to write a different kind of post today than the normal devotionals. I’ll get back to those again so don’t worry. Today, I’m just sharing my heart. For many of us, 2018 was a really hard year. And, maybe the last two years were rough for you.
And, when a new year is upon us we don’t always look forward to it. We wonder if it’ll be more of the same. I hear you. And I, too, need a better year. Honestly, I get tired of the day to day mental battles. I get weary of working so hard everyday to make a living. I struggle with nervous anxiety. And, I pray more than ever for Jesus’ return to set things right in the world. However, I can’t get up everyday thinking the worst.
So, I had a long talk with Jesus the other night and just poured out my heart to Him asking for a year of happiness where there would be breakthrough miracles, long awaited prayers finally answered and the desires of my heart come to fruition. I really don’t think it’s wrong to ask for joy. It’s more than just being content with whatever state we’re in. I’m talking about enjoying my life. Have you had moments of pure happiness? Maybe it was a childhood memory, maybe it was a vacation somewhere you had never been and it was amazing. Or, maybe it was the day your first born came into the world. Thing is, we all have deep down desires that oftentimes go unfulfilled.
Some would say it’s not right to ask God for prosperity. I disagree. God created everything and many things for our pleasure on earth. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to live in a beautiful home or have more than enough money in the bank so you can afford to do more than just pay bills. We just have to put everything in its right priority. And most of us don’t live in beautiful large homes and aren’t rich. And I believe there’s nothing wrong with asking God for the home of your dreams or asking for a raise on your job or to have your own business if that’s what you want. There’s also nothing wrong with asking for a year of excellent health. Growing older can make us feel very vulnerable.
I also asked for things in the world to improve. Many people are struggling, hurting and have little to no hope. It’s time to be specific in our prayers because God loves when we open our hearts to Him in prayer. He wants to converse with us. I talk to Him like I’m talking to a friend, well more or less! LOL! I look to Him as a Father because He is just that. He’s able to handle all that life throws our way. He desires that we trust Him especially during hard times. Last year was tough for many of us so let’s pray for a breakthrough 2019. The Lord knows we need it!
