It rains a lot here on the coast and sometimes the weather affects my mood. If it rains for a day, I’m usually okay but when it rains seven days in a row, I begin to feel down and kinda sad. But after the rains gone, a beautiful sunny mild day appears. The puffy clouds compliments the blue skies and I realize that in order to have days like this, we have to have rainy days. I’ve heard it called “liquid sunshine” and I can smile as much when it’s rainy and windy as when it’s sunny and warm.
When it’s sunny and warm, I want to be outside walking a trail or on the beach feeling the warmth of the sun beating upon my face. But, when it’s stormy, I stay indoors wrapped up in a blanket scrambling to find something to occupy my mind. It’s easier to be happy in the sunshine, at least for me, but I’m learning from God to be happy when there’s liquid sunshine. It’s a great time to spend quiet moments with The Lord and let Him minister to me.
I recently started writing in a journal AGAIN!, and it’s only for the purpose of writing down positive things like answered prayers, promises of God and testimonies. I read it when I need a “pick-me-up“! I decided to write so that I’m not always using the computer. Stormy days are terrific times to read past entries that remind me how good God is. We think we need to remind God of what He promised us but in fact, we’re the ones who need to be reminded of how good God is to us.
A stormy day can turn into a lazy day wrapped up in a big blankie with a cup of hot cocoa and a really good book. It’s also a time to re-energize my juices and clear my mind of any stresses. Liquid sunshine days are just as good as the sunny ones and equally as fun!
