Let the Weight of your Glory Fall

Let the Weight of your Glory Fall

Reading Time: 4 minutes

If I have to carry a weight, let it be the glory of God. When He puts on task on my to-do list, I know He will equip me to do it. He won’t give me a 40″ x 60″ framed painting and tell me to hang it up high on a wall without giving me the tools I need to do it. Likewise, in the spiritual there’s so much to do in the Kingdom of God and we need Him to carry out all He wants us to do.

We look forward to His return, we want to see Him, reign with Him forever, and there have been times where I’ve been in a church service when the Holy Spirit was moving so strongly that I got just a glimpse of what it’s like to be in His glory. I can’t quite explain it, but I know that I hated for the experience to end. God is so holy, so far above what we can think or imagine and I can’t wrap my brain around why He wants to have a relationship with us little people. It is truly the meaning of love.

If we want Him, He is there. He won’t turn away. What an awesome God we serve. He cares for us as His children and don’t think for a moment He likes to see all the heartache the world faces. He doesn’t, but He has a sovereign and divine will which is something we mortals can’t grasp.

There are events that must take place before His return. We will see some of the horrors the Bible speaks about, but there is such good news. God has promised the troubles are for a little while and then He returns in all His glory. He will sustain us through these times IF we allow Him to. He will equip us to go through whatever comes our way. His glory and presence will cover us when everything is falling apart. He knows that the trial you face, that with Him you will make it! Do you believe that? If you’re feeling shaky today maybe even fearful, then fear not! God is with you. He will be with you every step of the way.

Don’t be fooled by this world. God operates outside the realms of this universe, He doesn’t need help. His thoughts are far above ours and His purpose, we can’t always understand. But, like a loving father who doesn’t want just any man dating his daughter, our Father in Heaven doesn’t want just anything pulling us away from Him either. He doesn’t want anyone or anything separating us again and so Paul writes in Romans 8:38-39 (NLT):

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What an awesome verse! Nothing shall ever separate us again the way sin did and does. Through Jesus Christ we have relationship with God. It’s through His suffering that we can come to Him repentant and He will cleanse us on the inside. He will make our lives worth living. Every day I wake, I know I am a miracle. I know where my life was before I met Jesus that lonely night in the living room when I had decided to try suicide again. I knew this time I would die, but so did God and He called out to me that night.

I found myself on the floor sobbing and praying for the first time. I’ve had bumps in the road since, I nearly slipped and fell, but I wasn’t destroyed. I’m here. I’m waiting on God. I want His glory to fall on others who don’t know Him yet. I want to see people’s lives change for the better because they make Jesus their Lord and Savior. There’s no way to live without Him. We can’t do it on our own. We can never be good enough or do enough to earn Heaven. It is a gift to those who will receive it.

It’s time to come to Him, now, while we can. He won’t strive with man always. There is a time where there will be no turning back, no more second or third chances. Now is that time to ask God to let His glory fall on, cover and reign on us. The title of this post is the title of a beautiful song we used to sing in church, here’s the words, think about them today:

Let the Weight of Your Glory Fall
Spirit of the Sovereign Lord,
Come and make your presence known,
Reveal, the Glory of The Living God
(repeat)

(chorus) Let the weight of your glory cover us
Let the light of your river flow
Let the truth of your kingdom reign in us
Let the weight of your glory
Let the weight of your glory fall
(bridge)

For we do not seek your hand
We only seek your face
We want to know you
We want to see you
Reveal the glory in this place
(Repeat chorus)
