In our careers, we’re all learning new things especially during this pandemic. We’ve had to make many adjustments and some have and are taking online classes, attending webinars to learn new skills in order to remain employed. Well, our education shouldn’t stop at just our jobs, it needs to extend to our Heavenly relationship with Jesus.
Look around this world and see how different it is, how sad it is and how lost people are today. They need answers and they’re looking at every place but the God of the Holy Bible. It doesn’t matter if we’ve never lived through a pandemic or an economy decline. The people in the Bible did and it’s talked about in books like Nehemiah, Daniel and through the New Testament.
God had these accounts written down so you and I would not be caught off guard as we live through this time. So, we have to want to learn more from God how to successfully navigate through each day. I have a love to learn new techniques in my art and craft business, I love to learn how to do something new technically for my day job but do I love to learn more about God? Is my excitement enhanced more when I learn an earthly skill than a spiritual one? If I’m honest, my answer is no and that needs to change.
This verse is so on point…
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” – Mark 8:36 (KJV)
While learning new things in education, career, planning, hobbies are all wonderful and do a lot of good for our futures, it really matters none if we don’t have a growing knowledge and desire to learn of God. We won’t be taking anything with us when life is over. So, putting Jesus first is paramount especially if we want to live in a troubled world and not have it trouble us.
Today, make an effort to spend quality time learning the Word of God and seeking His Hand as you live. There’s so much more to Jesus if we are willing and anxious to be teachable. I know I want to learn more of Him, I can’t make it one minute without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
