His Timing is Always Perfect

I’m like a microwave oven, I want it NOW! I stand impatiently looking through the window waiting for the timer to go off. I can’t wait to taste the food, my tummy is growling and my tongue is hanging out, when will it be done?! But unlike the microwave, God’s timing isn’t quite like that at all. In fact, sometimes He deliberately waits as He did in the case of Lazarus (John 11: 1-44).

I’ve read Lazarus’ story over and over and I truly understand why Jesus waited before He came to raise him from the dead and I’m in awe of that, but I also can certainly get how Mary and Martha felt as they watched their brother get sick and die. When they sent word to Jesus to come, they didn’t expect Him to wait an additional four days! They needed and wanted Him NOW!

I’ve prayed and prayed and I wondered the same thing Mary and Martha must have, “Where is Jesus?!” It feels like my life is about to fall apart and it just seems like Jesus is no where in sight. This is my flesh talking here and so let me put it in its place…This isn’t about my feelings, this is about Jesus getting the glory and showing up in a way that we haven’t seen before and in a way that’ll build our faith, yours and mine.

My mind was so filled with “stuff“.

But, then I felt compelled to write this post…it was like Jesus was telling me He has heard my prayers. He has felt my cries, He identifies with my sorrow, and He has been there with me all along. His timing to answer me is for my best. I must not go on my feelings, I MUST trust and go by faith.

There will be times when it seems Jesus is far off and when this happens, stand on faith. Look at the past triumphs I have had, re-read my journal that I’ve documented some of the greatest miracles He has done for me, or listen to a worshipful song that will bring me into His presence.

Like Peter, when he kept his eyes on Jesus, everything was fine. But, when he looked at the situation, he began to sink.

It’s a lifelong process until we get to Heaven, but the price is too high to keep living in despair because I don’t get my way now. You and I may not always understand what God is doing in the background, however He is ALWAYS working on our behalf.

He’s on our side brothers and sisters! He has NOT forgotten you. He totally gets where you’re coming from. If you feel weak and tired and frail, then enter praise and worship with Him. Tell Him that no matter what, He is The Lord of your life and He will come into your situation and into your heart and He will help you wait on Him.

And when He answers you, He’ll give you a miracle for you to testify about His goodness. Your testimony will encourage others and God may even let you see why you had to wait. But if He doesn’t, like our three Hebrew boys who refused to bow down and worship a wicked king…we will not bow down to impatience, grief, and despair.
