Does The Lord God see you? Does He care where you’re at right now? Sometimes it can seem like He’s nowhere to be found, just ask Mary and Martha when they sent word to Jesus that their brother Lazarus was sick. Jesus waited four days before he came and performed a huge miracle.
It’s really easy to feel like He’s far away. And, these are the times when we have to fall back on old fashioned Bible faith!
The Bible is my Rock.
The best place in the world to go to when we need hope and encouragement is the Word of God and read about some of the early Christians’ stories. The Bible details how they handled their problems when they were frustrated, depressed and fearful.
I’m really thankful that their accounts are clearly written so that we would have them as testimonies for our own lives.
Let’s look at King Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20) who had armies coming against him that he couldn’t fight. He was scared, so what did he do? He prayed, laying it all out before God and his prayer was indeed answered.
David was depressed (A LOT)… his enemies were trying to take his life, mainly King Saul. I have to say that I can’t even relate to having to live my life on the run everyday, but he did. And he encouraged himself most of the time in the Lord even saying, “Why are you cast down, o my soul?, hope in God!…” (Psalm 42:5 KJV)
Queen Esther had to go before King Ahasuerus, her husband, to appeal for her people, the Jews, who were supposed to be exterminated by 2nd in Charge, Haman. She must have been scared. She asked the Jews to fast for her three days before she was to see the king. And, God came through in a big way for her. Read the Story of Esther.
Hannah, barren and tormented, cried before The Lord and He answered her with her son, Samuel. But it didn’t happen until she got to a desperate state. Read her full story in 1 Samuel 1:28.
Let’s look at Gideon. He was in charge of putting together an army to fight a battle with the Midianites and he was afraid. His army started out with 22,000 men, but God said that was too many men and after several prayers, God dwindled down his army to 300 men. And in the end, the Israelites won! Read Gideon’s story in Judges Chapters 6 & 7.
Here’s a few other people with struggles and yet God was there for each one:
- Abraham. He was afraid that King Abimelech would steal Sarah, his wife so he lied and said she was his sister. God intervened and set everything right. (Genesis 20:1–16)
- Jacob played a trick on his brother Esau to take his birthright and after they were separated, the two brothers would meet again 20 years later but Jacob was afraid Esau would kill him so he prayed (Read Genesis 32 & 33 for the full story)
- Moses struggled with self-esteem issues, Joshua needed courage, Naomi lost her sons until her daughter-in-law, Ruth, married Boaz and Joseph was wrongly accused of crimes he never committed.
God saw each of these people and many more, He never forgot one person who called on His name.
Just sharing a few of the stories that keep me going when I need encouragement. And there are so many promises God has made to us all throughout the Bible. They are perfect to read whenever we feel alone.
So, yes He does see you And yes, He does care deeply. Invite Him to come right where you are.
