Finish Strong

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When hubby and I were relocating from the east coast, there was a moment in the driving that we knew there was no turning back. It was when we were half way to our destination. I’m sure we’ve all faced times when we made a decision and then had second thoughts. Sometimes, you hit a winner and sometimes the bear beats you. That doesn’t mean the war is won though.

One of my mom’s strengths was her tenacity to not give up, to finish strong. She worked hard to try to raise two kids on her own. She made mistakes along the way, but it didn’t stop her from achieving and we all made it through. I loved her fight and I think it’s one of the traits I got from her. I don’t like to lose, I don’t want to come this far only to go out in a blaze of glory. I want God to be proud of me in the end, I want all He has for me.

I believe The Lord wants us to finish our individual race. Remember what Jesus asked His disciples in John 6:67, “Will you leave me also?” Many of the people that followed Jesus did so because of the miracles He performed. but they didn’t want Him. They didn’t want to be close to Jesus and live according to The Word. Today is no different, there might even be areas of our life that we still try to handle ourselves instead of surrendering it entirely to Jesus. If we want total victory, we must submit to Christ 100%. In the end, it won’t matter about all the degrees we possess, the clothes we wear, the places we vacation to, none of it will matter.

What will matter is… what did you do with Jesus once you believed?
