Sometimes when we pray, The Lord answers right then. It’s an awesome feeling when that happens. It makes me feel as if God is just showing me extra love. I remember praying about a situation with a major client I have had since 2008. It was a huge burden working for them and at times I just wanted to hang up the towel and walk. Something kept me from doing that, or shall I say someone?!

I prayed about the situation several times, but the last time that I prayed, God immediately answered and what a relief! God answered an immediate prayer and I wish you could have seen the look on my hubby’s face…it was priceless. I thank Him and thanked Him.

Whatever we pray about, complex, simple, etc., don’t overlook thanking God for the answer. Remember, the story of the 10 lepers? All were healed but only 1 turned back to thank Jesus for healing him. Why didn’t the other 9 come back to say thanks?

Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” – Luke 17:11-19 (NIV)

We should always expect God to answer our prayers. He may not answer right then, in fact He may not answer quickly at all. And, He may not answer in the way we think He should. In my finite mind and tormented emotions, I want Him to feel as urgent as I do to deliver me and save me. While He does understand the urgency as well as my emotions, and how frail I am… He loves me enough to do things in His time which is ultimately for my better good.

And, we should ALWAYS be thankful when He answers even if it’s not the way we thought or wanted. We can’t see around the corner into the next day or the next year, but God can. He knows that if He answers us on our timeline, it may not turn out for the best later on.

God wants to bless, He wants the best for me and the more I walk with Him, the more I see that our relationship is based on me re-learning everything I’ve known growing up without Him. Everyday, He has to “de-program” me a little more so that I can be closer to what He envisioned me to be.

It really is the “new birth” because in the natural, we start as babies needing someone to care for our every need until we’re old enough to take care of ourselves. We never know everything as an adult, we’re always learning and growing. It’s the same in the spiritual.

In conclusion, I think sometimes God just shows up and shows out but at other times He takes His time so that I can have the best outcome. And, then when He answers, I’ll know it was the PERFECT answer from a PERFECT GOD. And, let’s not forget to thank Him when He does answer.
