Psalm 116 is a favorite with me and David is my favorite person in the Bible. I really feel like I can understand what he was like, we also share some of the same struggles in life although I stop at the having someone killed to be with their spouse! David was a man who knew how to repent. He really loved God with all of his heart and when he went left, he knew how to get back right with The Lord.
His words comforts so many, even people who don’t consider themselves Christians. I have so many favorite Psalms but when I really need some encouragement, I go to Psalm 116 – 119.
It starts out with:
“I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.”
He makes it plain and simple, doesn’t he? He gets right down to the gist of what I would be thinking. David was a worshipper.
Hubby and I would take out of town trips and we would travel South down the coast or North up the coast to one of our favorite hideaways – Yachats, Oregon. We always had a great time. But with all escapes, you have to return home.
You can’t run away from turmoil, trials and troubles. I came home to emails of prayer requests, to problems and more deadlines. Reality sets in. But, my soul rejoiced because The Lord’s mercies are new everyday.
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. – Psalm 116:5-8 (KJV)
My prayer for us: “I hope in you Lord, I await you Lord to again rescue us, love on us tonight. Bring justice once and for all. Protect us and hide us from the enemy. Hold us closely in your bosom. I know you suffered, and I am sorry that we are so weak but I know that with you, we are strong. We need you every second Jesus, we need you every second Jesus.” In Jesus name, AMEN.

I urge you read these Psalm 116 – 119 and really let the words permeate in your soul and encourage you. I hope this passage will lift you up to praise and worship God for He is good and His mercy endureth forever!
