Christmas is not always a happy time for many…lost loved ones, natural disasters, relationship problems, loss of a job…sometimes it’s a period of the year that causes depression as well. If you’re having a hard time right now, I hope my post today will encourage you even if a little.
First of all, you’re not alone. The end of a year that’s been full of disappointments and hardships hits us all. But, if you’re here…that means there’s hope. You’ve gone through a tough time and you made it… and the key words here are “you got through…” I wish I could offer a why we go through so much in this life but I can’t. I do know The Lord said it rains on the just and unjust. However, He backed it up by saying He’ll never leave us nor forsake us. In other words, He will be with us and gives us the strength we need to prevail.
Also, know this. God is sovereign and it means He knows more and sees more than we can and also because He’s able to the see the big picture, He can make the hard decisions that oftentimes we cannot. Though we go through trials and sometimes have to accept when we don’t always get the outcome we want, there’s always a good reason for what God does. He’s never selfish and doesn’t do anything to deliberately hurt us. Trusting Him is hard, I know…but He can be trusted especially when we have questions.
Because He gave of Himself Jesus to be born, die and resurrect we can have a close relationship with Him. We can ask Him questions and He understands how we feel. When we hurt so does He. If you’re struggling this Christmas, turn to God and let go of all your concerns. You can tell those things to The Lord and then trust Him with the outcome. Let Him free you of feeling sad or even angry. I’ve been there believe me, and I had to let go because the anger and depression I felt was literally killing me. No one can live a good life like that. But God was there for me when I turned back to Him and prayed. Prayer is our salvation and Jesus never turns away a heartfelt prayer from a broken heart. If you’re reading this, I wish you the most blessed and happy Christmas ever! Look forward to the New Year, look forward to new things.
